Bryan Black is a tattoo artist born and raised in Southern California. Growing up skating and surfing, the only aspiration he ever had was to surf professionally.

Bryan’s passion for tattooing took place not long after getting a tattoo from his friend and future mentor, Tim Hendricks. During this time, Bryan was accepted to Laguna College of Art and Design to further his interest in art as much as he could.

Tim and Bryan's bond grew naturally through art, surfing, and an overall similar outlook on life. It wasn't long until Tim extended an invitation to Bryan to be his apprentice to become classically trained in tattooing.

Bryan's apprenticeship didn't focus solely on art as he was active in machine building for Salt Water Tattoo, Tim's tattoo supply company. Bryan's apprenticeship formally ended when he was hired as a full-time tattooer at Spotlight Tattoo in Hollywood, CA; however, as a life-long learner and a practitioner of the arts, Bryan constantly reflects to improve his craft.

Bryan further immersed himself in tattoo culture when he moved to Dallas, TX to work at Elm Street Tattoo. He was able to work alongside some of his favorite traditional tattoo artists for five years before returning to Orange County to work under Tim's shop, Classic Tattoo in Fullerton, CA.

Bryan continues to grow as a person and artist as he is surrounded by friends, family, and the Southern California lifestyle he loved as a child.
